Minors Division (Ages 9 and 10)
Division Statement
In this division, all girls should be comfortable with the rules of the game and know each position on the field. We maximize the potential for each player by encouraging them to play softball year round and take advantage of our year long clinics. This division support player pitch only. All teams are responsible to develop pitchers for their team. Player positions are specialized in this division and there is less "trying" of positions. We follow all sanctioned Little league rules and promote sportsmanship and collegiality throughout the season. At the end of the season there are playoffs.
Division Coordinator
Jess Ofenloch
Rules
The goal of Little League is supposed to be a fun filled experience, where each child is given a chance to succeed and learn.. The board of directors has added the following rules to supplement the Little League Rulebook
Game time shall be 6pm.
No inning shall start two hours after the start of the game.
All games will be played as long as you have four infielders, pitcher and catcher (6 players).
All games count in the standings.
All games are played regardless of how many players arrive, NO forfeits. Teams have to give players to help in the field, if a team has less than 8 players.
All cancelled games should be rescheduled. Reach out to the other coach to find a date and then get in contact with your division coordinator and they will get fields and umpires.
Abuse of umpires by managers, coaches or fans will not be permitted. ZERO TOLERANCE.
The Little League Code of Conduct will be adhered to and enforced.
Smoking is forbidden at any Little League event.
Home team wears navy jerseys, away wears red.
Please remove all trash and debris after all practices and games.
A full length game is 6 innings
An official game is when the trailing team has batted at least 4 times. In the event a game must end due to time constraints or darkness, the game will be resumed at a later date, beginning at the point where it was suspended. Any continued game will only continue until the 4th inning is complete. However if you have played your allotted time, the game will be considered final regardless of the number of innings played.
Pitching:
A single pitch thrown is the equivalent of one inning pitched.
Five innings maximum per pitcher in any game.
Twelve innings maximum per player per week, Calendar week begins Sunday and ends on Saturday.
Pitcher must be in contact with the pitching rubber at start of the wind-up. Pitch must be delivered underhand not sidearm.
If the player is removed from pitcher, she can return to the pitcher's position as long as she doesn't exceed her inning limit.
On 2nd visit to mound by coach, pitcher must be removed.
No balks are called.
Four walks per inning. On the fourth walk and each walk thereafter, the Coach comes out to pitch 5 pitches only. Batter has to put the ball in play. After 5 pitches, the batter is out if she doesn’t put the ball in play, even if she fouls it off on the last pitch. Number of strikes remain for the batter but balls are not counted. The coach has to pitch from the pitching rubber.
Pitcher must be removed after three (3) hit batters in any inning or four (4) total in a game.
Batter hit by bounced pitch will be awarded first base; pitch will not count against pitcher as far as hit batter total.
Players must pitch from the proper distance of 35 feet, measured from the back tip of home plate to the front of the pitching rubber.
Catchers:
Speed up rule is in effect, after the second out is recorded in an inning. Catchers occupying a base, as a runner, must be run for by the last batted out. This will allow catcher time to equip properly in order to prevent delays.
Dropped Third Strike is NOT in effect.
Batting:
Facemasks and chinstraps are MANDATORY.
Bats MUST be Little League
approved.
All players are included in lineup. Late arriving players should be added to the bottom of the batting order. (Continuous Line-Up is to be used)
Players forced to leave early will have their spot in lineup skipped without penalty.
Bunting permitted except when coach is pitching. The batter may not wiggle the bat to distract the pitcher. Bunt is a batted ball not swung at but intentionally met with the bat and tapped slowly. Holding the bat in the strike zone is an attempted bunt.
Infield Fly is NOT in effect.
Tagging up is in play at all times.
Stealing:
Three steals Maximum per inning.
No double steals.
No stealing of home.
No delayed steals.
No advancement on overthrow after steal attempt.
Penalty for leaving base early: One warning per team per game: runner is returned to base. If 2nd occurrence for either team, the runner is called out. This is a team warning not a player warning.
Runner may advance on bounced pitch caught by catcher.
Runner can not steal until ball CROSSES home plate.
Pitcher in control of the ball by the pitchers mound, the BALL IS DEAD. Runners more than halfway may advance to the next base (at umpire’s discretion).
Bases:
60ft - 1st and 3rd base are measured from the rear tip of home plate to back corner of base.
2nd base is measured from center of base to baseline.
Scoring:
Maximum run rule is in effect. No player will bat after the fifth run is recorded in their half of the first five innings.
Maximum run rule is not in effect for the sixth or "last inning".
Defense:
Teams shall use a 10 fielder alignment.
No player shall sit two innings consecutively.
All players must play a minimum of 3 innings.
If the pitcher is in control of the ball by the pitcher's mount the BALL IS DEAD. Runners more than halfway may advance to the next base (at umpire's discretion)
On over-throw errors by any infielder (including pitcher/catcher), no advancement of bases is allowed.
Runners cannot advance on an overthrow after a steal attempt.
